Fredrik Backman†s heads to the big screen again, this time with Tom Hanks on board, Deadline †
The Swedish author†s novel, published in the US in 2014, tells the story of a gruff middle-aged man who†is inspired to come out of his shell by a new neighbor. It was adapted into a Swedish film in 2015 by Hannes Holm.
The new film is directed by Marc Forster, known for directing Sample†s Finding Ball and Never Land† Screenwriter David Magee (Miss Pettigrew lives for a day) will write the script. Producers of the film include Hanks, actor Rita Wilson, Gary Goetzman (My fat Greek wedding), and Fredrik WikstrOm Nicolas (Easy money† Forster and Renede Wolfe (Christopher Robin) will executive produce.

Backman shared the news about the new adjustment on Instagram, † †Production will start this year, which is quite special for my wife and me as it also marks the 10th anniversary of the book coming out in Sweden.…†will be pretty awesome. I†I’m going to drink wine now.’
