Connie Britton stars in a television adaptation of Ann Napolitano’s Dear EdwardVariety reports

The Nashville and The white lotus star reunites with executive producer Jason Katims, who worked with Britton on Friday night lightsthe hit series based on the 1990 book by HG Bissinger.

Published in 2020 by Dial, Napolitano’s novel tells the story of a 12-year-old boy who is the sole survivor of a plane crash that killed his brother, parents and dozens of other passengers. A critic of Kirkus called the book “well-written and insightful, yet so heartbreaking that it begs the question of what a reader is looking for in fiction.”

Taylor Schilling, who played the main character in the Apple series, also stars in the Apple series Orange is the new blackand Colin O’Brien, who will be performing alongside Timothée Chalamet and Olivia Colman in the upcoming wonka

Executive producers of the series include Katims, Napolitano, Jeni Mulein (almost family), and actor Fisher Stevens, who will direct the pilot episode. Katims writes the edit.

Naples shared news of the series on Instagram, writing: “This is hard to believe, but exciting!… Jason Katims is a wonderful writer and I am thrilled to have Dear Edward in his hands.”
